DIY Chalkboard from an old picture
Last fall my husband brought home this picture from my sister-in-law who was moving. She knows how much I love purple and thought I would like to have this as an addition to our home decor. Although I do love purple I just couldn’t really visualize this hanging in any room in our house. I did love the frame and size (32 .5″ x 32.5″) of it though, so it sat in a corner for six months while I pondered what to do with it.
A few weeks ago while in the middle of painting six of our main floor rooms I saw this idea with the wooden monogram hanging from a big open frame. Another idea I considered was to apply a vinyl quote on the glass and cover the old picture with accenting material. Both were really sweet ideas, but I wanted something that I could change often and not get bored with!
Then the idea came to paint the glass with chalkboard paint which would give me the opportunity to change it up often with a quote, scripture or message whenever I pleased and bring new conversations into the home when friends and family visited.
And here it is placed on our living room wall ready to be written on…
And with my first little note shared…
My next project with chalkboard paint is to revamp my home office and make the sliding closet doors into an organizational tool for my home based business! Can’t wait to get them finished!
